Tachyum CEO Discusses Benefits of Homogenous Over Heterogenous Architectures at HPC User Forum

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, May 4, 2021 – Dr. Radoslav Danilak, co-founder and CEO of Tachyum™, will speak about how the Prodigy Universal Processor offers the benefits of an advanced homogeneous architecture that supersedes current heterogeneous architectures, offering industry-leading performance without their disadvantages, as part of the Innovative Technology Panel at this year’s virtual HPC User Forum May 12.

Danilak has three decades of industry experience and more than 100 patents designing state-of-the-art processing systems. In 2016, he founded Tachyum to disrupt markets by solving the processor performance plateau of nanometer class chips (i.e., more than a decade of stagnant clock speeds). At the HPC User Forum, Danilak will educate attendees on Prodigy’s ability to provide high integer performance for general purpose workloads, high floating-point performance for parallel workloads, scalability, ease of software deployment, high memory bandwidth that delivers better performance/USD for a CPU, HPC and unprecedented AI performance compared to existing systems.

“Different approaches to HPC workloads provide different pros and cons,” said Danilak. “Rather than make users choose which approach best satisfies their use case and accept the deficiencies that particular method may impose, we are suggesting they implement a solution backed by the Prodigy Universal Processor to enable computing systems that inherently unify CPU, GPGPU HPC, TPU/GPGPU AI inference and training workloads with Explainable, Bio, General, Spiking and Deep Learning AI. I look forward to sharing with attendees how they can leverage Prodigy to ensure they are positioned to take advantage of its benefits when it becomes commercially available later this year.”

Tachyum’s Prodigy can run HPC applications, convolutional AI, explainable AI, general AI, bio-AI, and spiking neural networks, plus normal data center workloads, on a single homogeneous processor platform, using existing and standard programming models. Without Prodigy, data center customers must use a combination of CPUs, GPUs, TPUs and other accelerators for these different workloads, creating inefficiency, expense, and the complexity of maintaining separate hardware infrastructures. Using specific hardware dedicated to each type of workload (e.g., data center, AI, HPC), results in the significant underutilization of hardware resources, and more challenging programming, support, and maintenance environments. Prodigy’s ability to seamlessly switch among these various workloads dramatically changes the competitive landscape and drastically improves data center economics.

The HPC User Forum was established in 1999 to promote the health of the global HPC industry and address issues of common concern to users. The organization is directed by a volunteer Steering Committee of users from government, industry and academia, and is operated for the users by market analyst firm Hyperion Research. There are two meetings a year in the United States and two meetings annually in international locations. Additional information is available at www.hpcuserforum.com.

About Tachyum

Tachyum is disrupting data center, HPC, and AI markets by providing the world’s first Universal Processor, with industry leading performance, cost and power, across all three computational domains, while, at the same time, enabling data centers to exceed the capacity of the human brain. Tachyum, Co-founded by Dr. Radoslav Danilak, and its flagship product Prodigy, begins high-rate production in 2021, with software emulations and an FPGA-based emulator available to early adopters. It is targeting a $50B market, growing at 20% per year. With data centers currently consuming over 3% of the planet’s electricity, predicted to be 10% by 2025, the ultra-low power Prodigy Universal Processor is critical, if we want to continue doubling worldwide data center capacity every 4 years. Tachyum is one of the founding members of I4DI (Innovations for Digital Infrastructure), which will build the world’s fastest AI supercomputer in Slovakia showcasing Prodigy.  Tachyum has offices in the USA and Slovakia, EU.
