Tachyum Demonstrates Prodigy UEFI, Available To Partners For Product Launch In 2021

SANTA CLARA, Calif., December 1, 2020 – Tachyum™ Inc. today announced that it will be supplying OEM and ODM partners with Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) specification-based BIOS replacement firmware, including source code, for its Prodigy Universal Processor Chips in advance of the hardware’s production-ready status in 2021.

Build partners will have the opportunity to access a full platform of software, operating system and chip emulation hardware when delivered. This access allows developers and manufacturers the opportunity to ensure their system applications and software will run without issue from Day One of Prodigy’s product launch without having to source additional resources from outside vendors.

Compared to ARM-based companies, Tachyum has developed the Prodigy stack – from ISA through compilers to ported software – to reduce integration time and ensure compatibility of Prodigy-based architectures. To date, Tachyum has achieved successful completion of not only the UEFI but of the Linux kernel, Toolchain, compilers including AI, debuggers, x86/ARM/RISC-V binary emulators and ported applications.

“The industry has been littered with proclamations, promises and prognoses of solutions that arrive far later than predicted or fail to arrive at all,” said Dr. Radoslav Danilak, Tachyum founder and CEO. “Tachyum is different in that we have been able to deliver milestone after milestone, for an advanced technology that others could only dream about producing. By achieving the demonstration of our UEFI and making it available to developers, we are keeping our commitment of fundamentally changing the datacenter and advancing the abilities of organizations requiring leading performance for their CPU, AI/ML and HPC workloads.”

Tachyum´s flagship product Prodigy excels in applications such as edge computing, IoT, HPC, convolutional AI, explainable AI, general AI, bio AI and spiking neural networks. For example, translating between English and Chinese requires a neural network with a capacity of more than 11 terabytes and is an arduous task on currently available “supercomputer” GPU processors of 20GB memory each. In contrast, Tachyum’s Prodigy fits 8TB per chip, which is 32TB in coherent DRAM per node.

Prodigy outperforms today’s fastest Xeon processors while consuming 10x lower power (core vs. core), and it outperforms NVIDIA’s fastest GPU on HPC, AI training and inferencing. A mere 125 HPC Prodigy racks can deliver 32 tensor EXAFLOPS. Prodigy’s 3x lower cost per MIPS and 10x lower core power requirements translate to a 4x lower data center Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), enabling savings of billions of dollars annually to hyperscale data center operators.

About Tachyum

Tachyum is disrupting data centers, HPC and AI markets by providing universality, industry leading performance, cost and power, while enabling data centers that are more powerful than the human brain. Tachyum, co-founded by Dr. Radoslav Danilak, and its flagship product Prodigy, the world’s first and only universal processor, begins production in 2021. Prodigy brings unprecedented value targeting a $50B market that is growing at 20% per year. With data centers currently consuming over 3% of the planet’s electricity, and 10% by 2025, low power Prodigy is critical for the continued doubling of worldwide data center capacity every 4 years. Tachyum has offices in the USA and Slovakia, EU.
