LAS VEGAS, Nevada, April 6, 2021 – SYLEX, a world-class ODM of high-quality optical interconnect solutions and fiber optics sensing/monitoring solutions, has joined the Innovations for Digital Infrastructure (I4DI), a partnership of innovative global technology leaders that are developing European-based supercomputing solutions to advance the region’s capabilities in solving the performance, power and efficiency issues challenging the industry today.
I4DI provides freedom and openness similar to Open Compute to the European HPC market. The consortium brings together companies in storage, networking, rack manufacturing, power, software, services and telecommunications spaces to help transform the entire EU region from an importer of data center and supercomputer technologies to an innovative leader in research for worldwide AI and HPC solutions. Besides of the above mentioned optical interconnect products SYLEX offers automated monitoring solutions based on modernized FBG technology. These systems are used to monitor the structural health and operational conditions of infrastructure objects within several industries, such as civil, geotechnical, energy, transportation, chemical, oil & gas, and process control and automation.
SYLEX joins a growing roster of I4DI members, including founding companies InoCloud, PosAm, Towercom, IPM Group and Tachyum, and associate members Seagate, VNET and World Wide Technology Inc. (WWT). I4DI already constitutes a partnership with Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV), Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization (MIRRI), within the National Supercomputing Center (NSCC).
“To be a part of the emerging European Supercomputing Center in Slovakia is an honor for us,” said Dana Synaková, General Manager of SYLEX s.r.o. “As a European leader in fiber optic interconnection solutions, we are confident that we will be a valuable partner to all the involved parties in this project. Our experience in developing passive multifiber products based on the state-of-the-art optical interfaces and customized solutions is an asset from which any upcoming projects can really benefit. Becoming a member of I4DI helps position of company as one with a global footprint while remaining an active participant in the local market.”
I4DI-designed data centers will serve as a blueprint for future government or commercial cloud initiatives such as InoCloud. Because of dual use – both commercially and for government/AI workloads, new I4DI datacenters will be more efficient, enabling hardware utilization rates to improve to more than 90 percent vs. their current 40 percent utilization rates.
“The very high-speed interconnection backbone between supercomputer racks can only be built on high-end optical interconnects,” said Dr. Radoslav Danilak, founder and CEO of Tachyum. “It’s amazing and gratifying that we have a Slovakian company like SYLEX that can provide the leading-edge optical interconnects needed for the world’s fastest AI supercomputer that we all are helping to build in Slovakia.”
Tachyum is disrupting data center, HPC, and AI markets by providing the world’s first Universal Processor, with industry leading performance, cost and power, across all three computational domains, while, at the same time, enabling data centers to exceed the capacity of the human brain. Tachyum, Co-founded by Dr. Radoslav Danilak, and its flagship product Prodigy, begins high-rate production in 2021, with software emulations and an FPGA-based emulator available to early adopters. It is targeting a $50B market, growing at 20% per year. With data centers currently consuming over 3% of the planet’s electricity, predicted to be 10% by 2025, the ultra-low power Prodigy Universal Processor is critical, if we want to continue doubling worldwide data center capacity every 4 years. Tachyum is one of the founding members of I4DI (Innovations for Digital Infrastructure), which will build the world’s fastest AI supercomputer in Slovakia showcasing Prodigy. Tachyum has offices in the USA and Slovakia, EU. For more information, visit https://www.tachyum.com
